All dentures and bridges are bespoke and made to the highest quality standards in our dental laboratory. On-site facilities mean it is often quicker and easier for us to make final denture refinements to ensure the optimal fit and feel for each patient.

About Our Clinic

Following a long-held dream, Matt moved his practice into its current premises in October 2011. Subsequently, he has split his dental laboratory and denture clinic into two separate businesses – The Dental Laboratory Ltd and Smiles (MB) Limited, respectively.

When you choose our clinic, we aim to exceed your expectations as a denture wearer. We offer free consultations to prospective patients where we can discuss their individual needs and treatment options.

What’s more, the clinic has a close working relationship with local dentists and specialists throughout Lichfield, enabling us to put you in touch with the appropriate practitioners if any further or alternative dental treatment is required.

Matt Burnell

Clinical Dental Technician

Matt Burnell BSc Hons Dip CDT RCS (Eng.) has over 16 years’ dental experience encompassing both private and NHS work including complex cases. In 2011 he started his own dental laboratory and furthered his qualifications with a Diploma in Clinical Dental Technology from the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Deanery and Royal College of Surgeons (England).

After graduating from Manchester University, Matt began his working career in a commercial dental laboratory where he fabricated dental devices such as crowns, bridges, dentures, orthodontic appliances for private and NHS dentists. This led to a seven-year career in hospital laboratories, where he made dental devices for undergraduate dental students, postgraduate dental students, consultants, and professors.

During this time, he began setting up his own dental laboratory, making various types of dental devices for clients, some of whom were hospital consultants. This led Matt to a lecturing position in Dental Technology, allowing him time to concentrate on developing his own dental laboratory which became his full-time occupation.

When the first UK course for Clinical Dental Technology by the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Deanery was announced Matt enrolled and was proud to graduate with a Diploma in Clinical Dental Technology, accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons (England) Dip CDT RCS (Eng).

Matt’s Lichfield premises now house his denture clinic and dental laboratory which still provides work to dentists and consultants both locally and nationally.

Patient Co-ordinator

Julie’s knowledge and experience of dentistry began with her career as a dental technician, working within all areas of a dental laboratory, this has provided her with a great deal of knowledge and experience of dental requirements and problems patients sometimes face.

She is the first person patients speak to when calling to make an appointment and will happily talk you through the process and will book you your first appointment, which will be your initial consultation.

Once your requirements and options have been discussed and you take up treatment with us, Julie will schedule your appointments as appropriate and will be able to answer most questions you may have.
